Avenir Medical is a company whose mission is to provide the highest quality products and services to improve vision. Its business is based on three pillars: Retail, Online/E-Commerce and Brands. It is one of the brands that is not afraid to invest in modern solutions and educate the market, in an area where many traditional optical shops have shunned innovation.
In 2020, Avenir Medical decided to strengthen its management team by hiring a Head of IT/E-Commerce, responsible for further developing the company's online sales and technological transformation.
Challenge
The company started the recruitment process on its own and even found the "perfect candidate." However, the candidate declined the offer, accepting a counteroffer from his current employer. This experience showed how difficult it can be to recruit an expert for such a strategic position.

Our approach
We began the recruitment process by carefully defining the process and preparing transparent communications for candidates to ensure the candidate experience and professional image of Avenir Medical.

Define the profile of the ideal candidate - a leader with experience in technology management and e-commerce.

Market mapping - identifying IT/E-Commerce managers in companies with a turnover of more than PLN 100 million.

Direct Search and ATS - a combination of active search for passive candidates and selection of active candidates with the support of ATS.

Assessment and selection - interviews with candidates combined with technical and strategic assessment.

Management consulting - convincing the client to meet with a candidate whose potential was not obvious from the resume, but who demonstrated unique leadership and technological competencies in the interview.
Effects
Within 14 days, we delivered 8 candidates from the best growing E-Commerce businesses in Poland, precisely defining the expectations and requirements for the position. Avenir Medical offered a job offer to our candidate from an E-Commerce company with a turnover of PLN 200M per year. Unfortunately, the candidate did not accept Avenir's offer due to a counteroffer from his current employer. As a result, the process had to start from the beginning. After 7 consecutive days, we presented the client with a candidate who we felt was a better fit than the first candidate. To our surprise, Avenir did not want to meet with the candidate.
Since we were confident in the competence of the candidate we recommended, we decided to convince the Board to meet with him. After the meeting, it turned out that the Board offered an offer to the initially rejected candidate, who did not have a perfectly prepared resume but was an expert in the area of technology and management of the E-Commerce department. After a few months, we know that he turned out to be a change leader who brought Avenir's E-Commerce business into new areas in terms of revenue and technology. We are pleased that we were able to convince the Board of Directors of our candidate, who is one of the top performers in the Company. This is how we completed the Head of IT recruitment.
